Sheridan College in Johnson County's Services Specialist Ashlea Bassett, has graduated from a 14-month program along with 13 other AG producers and Agribusiness persons from around the state.

The Program, Wyoming Leadership Education and Development (L.E.A.D.) is sponsored in part by the Wyoming Business Council’s Agribusiness Division.
The current training session began in November 2011 and concluded with a graduation ceremony in Saratoga, Wyoming in January of this year.

According to information released by the Wyoming Business Council, those in the program participate in educational seminars in an effort to enhance their leadership skills and understanding of all aspects of agriculture and policy making. Eight seminars were held in Wyoming, one in Washington, D.C., and an international study seminar was held in Ukraine.
Bassett explains more about the program.

Bassett said there is a lengthy application process with numerous interviews and letters of recommendation with a new class chosen only once every two years.

She explains the program's goal.

Bassett said SCJC is beginning to look into the possibility of starting a “Leadership Johnson County” program which she is on the steering committee for. She also hopes to get involved with more organizations locally and she explains how the training will benefit her and the community.

Recruitment for Class 13, which will start in the fall, is underway. For more information on the program, contact Cindy Garretson-Weibel at or (307)777-6589.
