Four Sheridan elementary schools were recognized for exceeding academic expectations in 2017 during Monday's meeting of the Sheridan County School District 2 board of trustees.

District 2 Superintendent Craig Dougherty said Highland, Meadowlark, Sagebrush and Woodland Park earned the highest scores possible for the Wyoming Accountability in Education Act.

Dougherty said the state accountability measure looks at growth for all students.

Also Monday, Tom Kinnison, who's president of the Whitney Benefits board of directors, presented school trustees with a reproduction of the Gollings paintings that Whitney Benefits bought from District 2 in 2015.

Kinnison said the original paintings are at the Whitney Center where they're stored in a very safe manner.

Kinnison thanked the district for allowing Whitney to buy the paintings.

In other action Monday, school trustees reappointed Kim Love, Dr. Stephen Holst and Lynie Phipps to the Whitney Benefits board and appointed Brandi Bilyeu and Nadine Gale to first terms on the board.

Trustees Wayne Schatz, Terry Burgess and Shane Rader were appointed voting delegates to Wyoming School Boards Association Convention that will be held later this month.

Trustees also approved the donation of a bus to the Wyoming Girls School and approved 20 policies, 10 on first reading and 10 on second and final reading. Trustees also heard reports on the district's capital construction and secondary school improvement plans.

Assistant Superintendent Mitch Craft said a general meeting of Next Level, the district's organization to improve high school graduation rates, will be at noon Wednesday at Memorial Hospital's conference facilities on Gould Street.
