School Superintendent Continues 'Model' Discussions

Sheridan County School District 2 Superintendent Craig Dougherty expects another meeting next week to continue discussions on how Sheridan schools can serve as a model for training Wyoming teachers.

District 2 administers schools in the city of Sheridan, and Story Elementary School.

District 2 schools have been recognized as the highest-performing schools, academically, in the state. The superintendent has been asked by Wyoming's Gov. Matt Mead to work with the University of Wyoming and other school districts to improve standards of education statewide. He will meet on Monday with the president of the university.

He said a key component of District 2's success is the teachers.

The superintendent said part of the goal is to help the university train better principals, better teachers and better school superintendents. He said District 2 teachers work as a team, and the district's schools don't allow failure to dominate the educational environment.
