Sheridan County School District 2 trustees have authorized purchase of just over 2.5 acres of land at the intersection of Fifth Street and Mydland Road.

Action came Monday night following an executive session. Trustees Chair Ann Perkins said the property is being purchased from First Federal bank.

Perkins said the purchase price is just under $500,000, and said the district is using funds that came from the sale of the old Highland Park Elementary School.

Mathers Heuck, who's the district's director of facilities, said the property could be a really good fit for the school district in the future, largely because of the proximity to Sheridan High School.

In other action Monday, school district trustees approved a lease agreement with Greater Wyoming Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Mitch Craft, who's an assistant superintendent for the district, said this is the third year in a row for the lease agreement. The school district provides Big Brothers Big Sisters with in-kind office space at Sheridan High School.
