Rural Addressing Issues Discussed At Jo Co Work Session

During the Johnson County Commissioner's work session Tuesday, rural addressing and some issues that have come up recently were discussed with Johnson County Fire District One Chief Wes Johnson.

Johnson said there have been about 250 address signs installed so far, out of about 2,300 total that need to be done county-wide.
Johnson and his crews are installing the signs as they have spare time, and the project may require hiring a separate crew to do the installation to ensure it is completed this year, according to the discussions.

Some complaints have surfaced form property owners about placement of the signs and posts and Johnson said he knew nothing of the complaints and will make sure instructions are followed by the crews.

One-calls to locate utilities were also discussed, and how that could create more problems for crews waiting for information from utility companies, and it was suggested crews utilize existing poles, fences, or other structures as much as possible to minimize the need for one-calls.

Johnson also said crews will be working on Trabing Road this weekend.
