Rope For Knowledge This Saturday In Buffalo

The Fifth Annual Sheridan College in Johnson County Rope For Knowledge Scholarship Roping will be this Saturday from 9am to 3pm at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Buffalo.

The event, started as a way to help raise money for local scholars to use for higher education, has grown over the last five years into a well-looked forward to happening in Northeast Wyoming.

Ashlea Bassett, Services Specialist with SCJC, explains what events are being offered at the roping this weekend.

For those interested in performing during the roping, you must sign up before noon on Friday, August 16th.

Bassett tells us who can enter and where the awards and proceeds go.

Bassett said the scholarship committee has chosen six students for the fall semester that will receive scholarships and they will be announced at the event on Saturday.

The Rope For Knowledge Scholarship Roping has raised more that $16,000 and awarded 19 scholarships over that time.
