Rollover at Rock Creek Claims Two Lives

Information on the accident that closed a section of Interstate 90 just north of Buffalo Saturday evening has been released by the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred about 7pm near the Rock Creek Exit in the eastbound lanes.

According to the report, Arvin Perdido, 37, of Sheridan was driving a 2006 Ford Van with six passengers when Fernando Lumabao, 50, of Gillette, who was intoxicated, grabbed the steering wheel and pulled it hard to the right, causing Perdido to lose control of the vehicle.
WHP Sergeant Stephen Townsend tells us what happened next.
The van went off the roadway and rolled several times.
Killed in the rollover were 21 year-old Peijung Chen of China and 19 year-old Yuhsin Lee of Taiwan.

Injured were 20 year-old Orlando Kamaj of Albania, who is still hospitalized in Casper, and 21 year-old Yilei Yao of Taiwan and Yenping Chung of China who were treated and released at the Johnson County Healthcare Center.

Only Perdido and Lumabao were wearing seat belts.

According to the Focus Taiwan News Channel ( the Taiwanese and Chinese students were in the United States on a working holiday program.

Sgt. Townsend confirmed they were working in the area.

Lumabao has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment and violating the open container law.
