The Wyoming Republican Party State Central Committee was notifed by Governor Matt Mead Monday that Representative for District 30, Jon Botten has resigned effective September 10th, 2012. Sheridan County Republican Chairman Jesus Rios.

Rios explains that the timing of the resignation has prompted the Sheridan County Republican Party to file a petition with the 4th Judicial District Court in Sheridan County.

Rios said that the petition was filed to make sure the proper procedure is carried out in filling the vacancy. Rios has recommended to the Court that Kathy Coleman, who's running unopposed for the District 30 seat, be appointed if the Court determines that the precinct committeemen and women are unable select three individuals due to state statute. Rios said that since time is of the essence, he hopes a decision from the Court will come later this week.
