The Sheridan Recreation District Board of Trustees Wednesday night approved the promotion of Chad Aksamit to the position of Sports Specialist II. Aksamit has been with the Rec. District for the past year and a half as the Recreation Specialist. Sheridan Recreation District Director Richard Wright explains that the promotion has to do with the retirement of a long time employee.

To fill the vacancy left by the promotion, the Board also approved the hiring of Nicolas Dore as Recreation Specialist. Dore is a recent graduate of Western Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration.

By order of state statute, the Board acknowledged receipt of this year's preliminary budget.

The preliminary budget is approximately $600,000 less than last year's budget. The decrease is attributed to the 46% projected cut from the City and the lack of capital projects for the upcoming fiscal year.
