Rec Board Seeks More Community Input From Survey

The Johnson County Recreation District is making a last-minute push for community members to get online and complete a survey so they can compile the information to update their 2010 Recreation Master Plan.

The information found in the original document has steered the board's decisions over the last few years.

The document is now in need of an update.

Board members Jack Tarter and Lisa Griffith explain how they use the information in the document.

The Rec Board, over the years, has funded or partially funded numerous projects such as the concessions/restroom facility at Buffalo High School's football field, a part-time trails maintenance position for the Trails Board, and improvements at the Mikesell/Potts Recreation Area at Lake DeSmet. Concerts and performances through the Johnson County Arts and Humanities Council and Worlds of Music have also been funded through the Rec Board.

The Rec Board would like the community to complete an on-line survey about their wants and needs concerning recreation, or attend a public meeting this Monday night to present their information there.

The Community Open House will be Monday, February 17th from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Johnson County Fairgrounds' Community Building.
Those interested can view and comment on the draft plan, ask questions and complete a survey if they have not done so.

All of the results will be added to the update of the Recreation Master Plan
