Ranchester Fire Responds to Two Calls

The Ranchester Fire Department was called out to two fires on Sunday, one on Interstate 90 and the other on Five-Mile Road.

Fire Chief Donnie Dobrenz said there were no injuries involved in either fire.

The earlier fire was on Five-Mile Road close to the state line, the chief said, when a controlled burn of trash got out of control. The fire was reported at about 4:15 and was contained by around 6:30, but fire crews remained on the ground. The chief estimated about 20 acres was burned.

The Interstate 90 fire was about eight miles east of Ranchester, and firefighters were on the scene for about five minutes, the chief said. He said the fire was completely out, and he had no idea what caused it. He said the area involved was about 12 feet by 12 feet in size.
