City of Sheridan Public Works Director Lane Thompson provided an update on the Vacutech expansion project at the Sheridan Economic and Educational Authority Joint Powers Board meeting this week.

Thompson said that he is working with SEEDA Attorney Rex Arney on getting all the documents regarding the project in order.

The SEEDA Board gave their approval to have Thompson proceed with finalizing the documents and contract for the project. SEEDA recently selected the design build team of O’Dell Construction and Plan One Architects for the expansion project, which consists of building a 40,000 square foot facility adjacent to the current Vacutech building in north Sheridan.

SEEDA, will lease the facility to Vacutech for five years, after which time, Vacutech will have the option to buy the building. The total estimated cost of the project is $4.4 million. $3 million is in the form of a state grant, and $1.2 million is from a state loan. Vacutech’s cash contribution of $275,000 will pay for the parking area for the new building.
