'Productive Year' For Buffalo/Johnson Recycling Center

'Productive Year' For Buffalo/Johnson Recycling Center

The Buffalo/Johnson Recycling Center was busy during 2017 and had some developments, both good and not-so-good, according to Bill Ostheimer, who serves on the Recycling Center Joint Powers Board.

Ostheimer gave the board's written year-end financial report to the county commissioners, and said he is currently working on their 1% proposal for next month's deadline.

He detailed two issues that were big developments during the last year.

He said he would like to see cooperative discussions involving his board, city and county governments, solid waste districts and the Clear Creek Conservation District to find a better way to deal with e-waste disposal.

Ostheimer said that, according to discussions between landfill employees and a board member, it is believed that the recycling center is diverting a significant amount of waste from going into the county landfill, which will extend the life of the facility.
