Prison Time for Man Charged With Aggravated Assault and Battery

A 35-year-old man from New York State will serve time in the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins for the charge of Felony Aggravated Assault and Battery.

Shawn McAvoy received a sentence of 28 to 60 months in prison and will be responsible for paying $7,661 in restitution. In August of last year, McAvoy was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery for breaking a liquor bottle over the head of a man, and repeatedly punching that same man in the face with his fists, outside of a motel on North Main Street in Sheridan. District Court Judge John Fenn also ordered McAvoy to pay $310 in various fines and court costs.
