Presentation on Plains Horses at Kearney Hall September 7th

A free presentation about horses on the plains by Dr. Cody Newton will be offered on Saturday, September 7th at the Kearney Hall near Story.

“History of Horses on the Plains” will focus on questions about their possible evolution more than 2 million years ago; if modern horses thrived on the plains more than 20,000 years ago, and possible extinction 8 to 10,0000 years ago; and when the reintroduction to the Americas actually occurred and by whom.

According to the Fort Phil Kearny Historic Site webpage, Dr. Newton's research focuses on the early contact period and the development of Plains Indian equestrianism.

The presentation will be Saturday, September 7th from 10 to 11:30 that morning at the Kearney Community Hall, located one mile west of Exit 44 on Interstate 90.
It is free and open to the public.

The presentation is sponsored by the Fort Phil Kearny/Bozeman Trail Association and the Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site.
