The Bighorn National Forest has announced that there will be several prescribed burns this fall. BHNF Staff Officer Bernie Bornong explains that the prescribed burns encompass a number of different areas of the forest.

Bornong says that the burn at Shell Canyon will differ from the other prescribed burns that are planned.

Bornong indicated that each of the burns have their own specific burn plan, and that there is a small window in which crews have to work with.

The prescribed burns will be conducted now through late fall, and Bornong said that signs will be posted on the ground to alert hunters and other recreationists of the potential burning in the area.
