Most of the major drainage basins in the state had significantly higher than normal precipitation during December—except for the Tongue and Powder watersheds, which were the driest in the state. Jim Fahey Hydrologist with NOAH Weather Service:

However, Jim says these patterns are partially explained by the weather system, “La Nina”:

He says this “La Nina” trend is expected to continue through the winter and possibly into early spring.
