Preferred Provider Organizations, sometimes referred to as Participating Provider Organizations, or PPO's, have been accepting discounts offered by the Johnson County Healthcare Center.

The news is somewhat surprising to Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward, who explained the situation to the Board of Trustees at their meeting last week.

GEHA, or Government Employee's Healthcare Association, approached Ward with an initial proposal that the Healthcare Center could not accept.

GEHA countered with an offer, asking for the Healthcare Center to give them a five percent discount for services in the hospital and seven percent in the clinic, but the JCHC will counter offer with their standard five percent across the board, as they have offered to other PPO's, after the counter offer was approved by the board. GEHA still has to decide whether to accept the offer.

Also at the meeting, the board received the report for donations and memorials for the month of May. The Bill Leis Memorial received $285. James Roebling Memorial received $90. Dana Ann Frisk Memorial received $100. Joe Jarvis Memorial received $20. And the May Dillinger Memorial received $25.

The Healthcare Center also received $200 in donations during the month.
