The Powder River Cowboys Received A Warm--And Loud--Welcome Home

Welcome Home!!
Welcome Home!!

An estimated 500 people attended the "Soldier's Appreciation Day" celebration at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds, an event sponsored by the Sheridan People's Assistance Food Bank. Sheridan Media's Betsy Love was in attendance and has this report.

Community members gathered this Easter weekend to welcome home Wyoming National Guard's 2-300th Field Artillery Battalion, also known as the Powder River Cowboys. I caught up with Dan Lick, the organizer of Saturday's welcome home party, to learn why he has been especially anxious for the troops return, after their year-long deployment in Kuwait.

Following a Drum and Bugle interlude and a proclamation announcement by Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey making Saturday officially "Soldier's Appreciation Day," I spoke with a shorts and flip flops clad Jason Pepin, a returning soldier, one of the returning soldiers, about his feelings on coming home.

And Jason said of the Wyoming welcome.
