Post Office Offers Early Out for Postmasters

Earlier this week, we reported the U.S. Postal Service is cutting hours of many small-town offices, which may cause some employees to loose full-time status, and therefore, their federal benefits.

David Rupert, the spokesman for postal services in Wyoming, said they have a plan in place
to make the transition easier on employees.

Rupert said he's hoping enough employees will take the early retirement that there won't be massive lay-offs.

Rupert said the restructuring of employees and postal hours will save the program $500 million a year. Last quarter, the service posted $3 billion in losses.
