Poll Question Asks Your Opinion on Current Health Care Bill

The debate in Congress lasted most of Sunday over the proposed Health Care Bill. Despite all House Republicans and just over thirty Democrats voting against it late last night in Washington D.C., the bill passed the House. This week's Bank of Sheridan/sheridanmedia.com poll question is, "Do you support the Health Care Bill as currently proposed?"

Let us know what you think. Cast your vote on the sheridanmedia.com home page, and feel free to leave appropriate comments. Then tune into NewsTalk 930 KROE this Friday morning starting at 9:10 for the Jackson Electric Open Line to hear the results.

What is being dubbed the "Fix It" portion of the bill is headed back to the U.S. Senate. President Obama is expected to sign the legislation sometime this week.

Anti-Healthcare Vote because the Govt. is involved? Wake up!!!

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US department of energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the national weather service of the nation oceanographic and atmospheric administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the national aeronautics and space administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the food and drug administration.

At the appropriate time as regulated by the US congress and kept accurate by the national institute of standards and technology and the US naval observatory, I get into my national highway traffic administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads built by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional< fuel of a quality level determined by the environmental protection agency, using legal tender issued by the federal reserve bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the US postal service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After work, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to a house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department.

I then log on to the internet which was developed by the defense advanced research projects administration and post on rightwing blogs and Fox News forums bout how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

You have raised some good

You have raised some good points.

However, I think there is a distinct difference in the efficiency of local and state agencies (such as water and law enforcement) serving needs which are basically the same for everyone, and a federally run system attempting to serve diverse needs of each individual.

I'm also intrigued by your statement that your house didn't burn down BECAUSE of the building codes. Are you suggesting that a high quality, safe house could NOT be built without government oversight?

health care

Like they were saying a year ago, "if you think medical care is expensive now, just wait till it is free".

I would like to address the

I would like to address the many people who say that they are happy with this - as well as social security and medicare. Many politicians say that those who are on medicare love it. They probably love it because someone else is paying for it. Their 1.45% was spent years ago as was their SS. I think this says volumes about these people.

I suppose they would love it if the their house payment was made for them also. This says alot about the way these people think. They don't care that Joe Sixpack - who has a family and makes under $40K/year has to pay their way for them. Personally - I don't like other people paying for me. I want to pay my own way - even when I'm on my death bed.

I agree 100%, one thing I

I agree 100%, one thing I can’t stand is when people try to pay my way in areas as if my opinion could be bought. I take it as an insult when people take me out to dinner and try to solicit my business and insist on paying for it.. Some people think its the greatest thing since sliced bread.. There are too many of these people in America thinking it is their right to have others pay for them... Here is the rub, when I’m older if I could KEEP all the money I made now I would be able to continue the life style I have grown accustomed to.. However because I have to pay for other people now I know full well in retirement I will be forced to live in less of a lifestyle.. Who gives a crap about Joe six Pack and his 4 kids.... I had a number of kids I could afford and still live a great life without depending on anyone but myself...

Goodbye American Democracy

Why could not people see through the smoke screen? This not about concessions and wanting to play fair, it’s about propaganda. Its about presentation so they don’t loose control from the loyal citizens of America who fear because they see heavy armor pushing through the borders of “free” democracy.
Now they force "free" peoples to become "un-free" through a government control or government monopoly anything. Look at history… when choice taken from peoples it never be called the "golden brick road to democracy." It doesn't matter where you live this is “universally” anti-democratic in any language. Americans are now prisoner of government. Believe me I know.
You think not? Ask a Russian if government healthcare is for “free” people or “non-free” peoples? You say, but this is America, here everybody has choice.
Claiming that Americans will grow to like the health care bill despite their obvious and vocal opinion against it is just plain criminal. It’s like telling a Polish Jew he is no longer Polish citizen, he is simply a Jew… and oh yea, you will grow to like it, just give it time.
You think maybe I’m crazy. They “took” my guns away from me, but you make vote and “give” yours to government. Now they want you to make vote again on health care so you can “give” your choice to government. They say living in communist and socialist country is stupid… now tell me who’s stupid one!
It’s what they say “kettle calling pot black” now! Ha!
It seems to me history proved this psychological appeal, which at that time was flown under a swastika, WAS NOT appreciated by all, regardless of what the guys at the top of the Third Reich said through their propaganda machines.
“Comrade” they say, “you are free to choose.” What can I choose I ask. “here is your choice they say.” I don’t like the choices I say. “government knows best choices for you” they say, “Now you choose or we choose for you.”
You think you are free America? Try making own choice on health care. You a prisoner, not free. Ha!
Today same "big brother" counter parts are trying psychological appeal under an American flag.
When Hitler told the Polish people that he was taking over for "their own good," many of his aids argued that the people would not accept it, and he simply told them that he would eventually win over the public support.
You think I'm wrong? Why don't you find a WWII Polish survivor and ask them... "So how did that work out for you?"
Since when has anything "For the Government, and by the Government" ever worked out for the “free” citizen?
Someone said this will become historical, and I am sure it will. This will be the point in American history where we will look back and say "America made good run on democracy... too bad it was so short lived."
You think I'm wrong? I think not. I've been there and wept my share of tears.... at first I think maybe I can laugh at foolish Americans, but now I cry at your loss. We are not so different you and I. Welcome to Socialism Comrade American.

Health Care Bill

I am not in favor of the Health Care Bill that just passed. I do believe that we as a country are in need of Health Care reform, however the Bill that just passed is definitely not the answer, Because:
1. We can't afford it
2. It's unconstitutional
3. The majority of American people were opposed to it (the Politicians ignored us, we'll get even in November)
4. The US govn't has a dismal track record in operating these types of institutions (US post ofice, medicare, social security, medicaid all broke)

They won't vote anybody

They won't vote anybody out.The american people are too limp to do anything that constructive. In a couple years this whole thing will be forgotten short of the cost.

Healthcare vote

It is a sad night for our country and for in United States House of Representatives as well as the Senate. The corruption is so evident and hopefully the citizens of our great country will now "vote those out that simply do not listen."
