Police Will Host Drug Take-Back Saturday

The Sheridan Police Department, in cooperation with programs sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency, is hosting a prescription drug take-back event Saturday in Sheridan. Evidence technician at the SPD, Steven Johnson, said all prescription drugs that are out-dated or unused will be accepted for proper disposal.

Johnson says the station will be equipped to take prescription medications, but not needles, inhalers or non-prescription items, such as vitamins or over-the-counter drugs. He said it's especially important that people get rid of unneeded narcotic medications due to their potential for abuse or theft.

The drug take-back event offers complete amnesty and anonymity to anyone who has prescription drugs to surrender.

You can find the drug drop-off station in front of Walgreens on Coffeen Avenue Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
