Friday's Sheridan City Council budget work session included reports from the Police and Fire Departments, as well as Municipal Court. Acting Fire Chief Terry Lenhart stated that their $1.5 million budget request is down 11 percent from last year, largely in part to the consolidation of the Fire Chief's role. Police Chief Richard Adriaens also informed the Council that their budget request is 11 percent smaller than last year's, as it is $2.5 million for Police operations and $409,000 for communications.

Adriaens also discussed how they've made an attempt in the past year to curtail some of the delinquent behavior at Kendrick Park.

Adriaens also stated that the Police Department in 2011 secured $64,000 in Highway Safety grants and over $24,000 in grants to help thwart underage drinking.
