Police Fatally Shoot Suspected Kidnapper

(AP) - The FBI says a Colorado man believed to have kidnapped his former fiancee, and who then fled a Wyoming hotel just before authorities moved in to rescue her, has been fatally shot by police.The FBI says 50-year-old Dennis Gene Cox was shot during a confrontation with Fort Collins, Colo., police on Friday.
Fort Collins police said officers shot the suspect after he pointed a gun at them. The shooting followed an extensive manhunt for Cox that had been centered in Laramie, Wyo., about 69 miles northwest of Fort Collins.
Laramie police began searching for Cox after a woman he was suspected of kidnapping from Brighton, Colo., was found safe at a Laramie hotel Friday morning. Authorities have said 48-year-old Julie Ann Kilgore, a nurse, was kidnapped Tuesday.
