Planning Commission Considers Large Acreage Annexation

The City of Sheridan Planning Commission Monday night approved a request from developer Don Roberts to annex 557 acres of land into the City as part of the Cloud Peak Ranch 3 annexation. 17.3 acres of the land will be zoned B-1 Business, while the remaining 539.9 acres will be zoned R-1 Residential.

The Planning Commission had previously approved the item in October of 2009. However, at the developer's request, the City Council directed staff to consider alternative open space proposals for the annexation. City Public Works Director Nic Bateson.

Bateson says that staff has to take a little bit of a different approach when dealing with large annexations.

Bateson indicated that the annexation is just the first step in an ongoing process, as they will continue to work with the developer as he subdivides the property in the future.

So basically the tax payer is going to flip the bill for a 40 acre park we don't need and infrastructure that we can't afford.

With over 700 properties for sale in sheridan,we don't need more housing.Especially housing that will never be affordable.
