Physician Recruiting Discussed By JCHC Board

At their meeting last week, the Johnson County Healthcare Center's Board of Trustees heard updates on physician recruiting for the facility.

Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward said physician recruiting has been slow, but he does a female physician interested in the healthcare center that will be in the area in August and would like to stop and tour the facility to see if she would be interested in practicing here once her residency is up at her current facility in two years.

Ward said with the difficulty in finding physicians willing to relocate here, especially female doctors, the discussion among staff is that if she is interested to extend an offer to her to “lock her up” once her residency is completed.

Ward gave the board an invitation to meet with the physician during a luncheon or other such function while she is here next month, which the board decided would be a good idea.

No specifics have been worked out yet, and Ward said he would inform the board when plans are made.
