Story Fish Hatchery Remains Closed to the Public

The Story Fish Hatchery will be open to the public in June of 2011.

The Story Fish Hatchery has been closed to the public due to construction for the past three years as major facility upgrades have taken place to prevent whirling disease. Game and Fish Information Specialist Warren Mischke says that the hatchery will remained closed to the public until June of 2011.

Nicholas Edwards Changes Plea; Sentenced

32-year-old Nicholas Edwards changed his plea to Guilty on three different counts Wednesday in 4th Judicial District Court. Back on July 13th, Edwards' attorney, Joelle Hadley-Day, had told Judge John Fenn that they were awaiting the findings from a substance abuse evaluation before finalizing a plea agreement with the state.

Two Run for County Assessor

Special SAWS Meeting About Increasing Water Supply

The Sheridan Area Water Supply Joint Powers Board approved a special meeting to hear a report on the Sheridan Supplemental Supply Study. Sheridan Utilities Director Dan Miller explains this study is “looking towards the future”:

Dan says the initial draft of the study is expected to come out for public comment sometime in September.

College Receives $220,000 Grant For Student Support Services

Low-income students who are the first in their family to attend college or who are disabled will now have more support if they wish to attend any of Northern Wyoming Community College District schools, including Sheridan College.

State Candidates Debate the Issues

The second of two candidate forums hosted by the Governmental Affairs Committee of the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce was held Wednesday night at the Sheridan College C-TEL. The forum included candidates for Wyoming Governor, State Auditor, Superintendent of Public Instruction, U.S. Representative, and State Representative for House Districts 30, 40, and 51.

County Commissioner Candidates

There are six candidates vying for three available seats on the Sheridan County Commission.

Three of the six candidates for Sheridan County Commission appeared as guests on KROE'S Public Pulse program Wednesday, with the other three scheduled to be on the program Thursday. Current Commissioner Terry Cram says that there is some unfinished business that he'd like to take care of.
