Over 200 Attend Raising Readers Breakfast Last Weekend

Four years ago Raising Readers of Wyoming started looking for ways to raise awareness for their program and the power of reading. They came up with an annual breakfast. For the past couple years they have hosted the “Book-Fest and Feast” at the Elks Lodge. Raising Readers Jolene Olson says that the storybook characters in attendance make the event very labor intensive.

Representatives from several youth organizations attended the event to describe services they offer area youth. But what about Raising Readers itself?

Well over 200 people attended the event. Kids got their picture taken with their favorite story book character and were able to participate in a group story time, in addition to eating breakfast. Olsen says they are already looking forward to next year’s event.
