Sheridan Media reporter Pat Blair attended an event in Ucross Saturday night. Here's her story.

I loved the story that Tracey Kikut told about the owl sculpture.

Kikut is residency manager at Ucross, and Jenson was one of 16 Oregon artists who participated in the Ucross Foundation's artists-in-residence programs from 2013 to 2016.

Works by all 16, including Jenson's owl carrying the chicken, are featured in an exhibit in the foundation's art gallery, and were the focus of a reception in the gallery this weekend. Kikut explained in an interview with me.

Kikut said the artists themselves were unable to attend the reception, but several paintings and sculptures from each of the 16 are in the show, works created both during their Ucross residencies and outside that time. The show started in February and will continue through May 12. At the same time, Kikut said, a publication was being prepared.

Copies of the book were given out free to those who attended the reception. Kikut said the show was doing well, adding there was a lot of diversity among the works, so it offered something for everyone. Kikut said she's had nothing but great reviews on the exhibit.
