You may have seen the horses being driven along 5th Street last weekend. Sheridan Media News Director Kurt Layher talks about Eaton’s Ranch, which begins their 105th season in Sheridan County this weekend.

A slower pace of life… Cool mountain streams… Fresh air… Riding carefree on horseback… The reasons for visiting are just as diverse as the guests who will stay at Eaton’s Guest Ranch this season. You know it’s summer when you see the several dozen head of horses being led through town on their way to Eaton’s from their winter range between Arvada and Gillette. Jeff Way is in charge of the ranch that serves over 150 people each day all summer:

The family oriented atmosphere of the ranch seems nostalgic and welcome in the world of today. Guests leave civilization behind… or maybe they find it there in a place where you don’t have to worry about locking your doors, since there aren’t any locks. What is that has kept guests coming for over 100 years?

The ranch is within 20 minutes of Sheridan, right at the base of the Bighorn Mountains. Visitors hail from just about every state in the nation as well as several other countries. Local residents may think that it’s too close to home but you could find that the 3-day minimum stay is just not long enough. 105 and counting… we should all be as vibrant at that age.
