Nursing Students Gather Shoes

Soles4Souls distributes new and gently used shoes to those in need, both in the US and internationally.

The 1st Year nursing students at Sheridan College are required as part of their grade to acquire eight hours community service before the school year ends. This year, the students are combining forces for a charitable organization that will have both domestic and global significance.

Called Soles4Souls, the students are gathering gently used or new shoes to be distributed to adults and children who can't afford to purchase them, or for whom none are readily available. Spokesperson Molly Greenelsh adds that as nurses, the health aspect comes into play, too.

There will be drop-off boxes at the Sheridan College Whitney Building lobby and at The Buffalo Bulletin newspaper office in Buffalo, as well as various locations around Sheridan. The students will be collecting the shoes until April 30th, and then will ship them to the Soles4Souls distribution center in Las Vegas. Niki Fazer says that when the time comes, they will need some help.

And again, while the shoes do not have to be new, they do ask that they be in good condition.

If you can help sponsor some of the shipping costs for this project, please call Niki at: (307) 620-1355
