Notes From This Week's Jo Co Commission Meeting

The Johnson County Commissioners, at their meeting earlier this week, approved catering permits for the upcoming Bison Backers' Banquet and NRA Banquet.

The commissioners also approved a Service Agreement between the county and ACT to provide five lines for the police, sheriff, alarm system and other essential emergency services at the new judicial center, which is nearing completion. The agreement is for $115 per month.

A Public Health Emergency Preparedness Contract was reviewed and approved for the commission chair to sign after it is reviewed by the county attorney.

The commissioners approved a request from the county attorney's office that if they can complete the OJJDP grant application that the chair sign the application. The deadline for submitting the application falls before the next commission meeting, prompting the request.

The commission approved a request from the USFS to use the airport for camping, staging of equipment, storage and other related uses associated with fighting the Gilead Fire, which was approved. The county will be paid $175 per month for the duration of the firefighting effort.

They also approved a request from Emergency Management Coordinator Marilyn Connelly to stage the county's command trailer at the county Fire Hall for use by the Gilead Fire Incident Management Team.
