Not-Guilty Plea Entered In Rodeo Beating Case

18-year-old Walker Takes Horse entered a not-guilty plea on charges of Aggravated Assault and Battery in 4th Judicial District Court on Friday.

Takes Horse, along with 24-year-old Leo Pinnick are charged in connection with a fight that occurred in Sheridan during Sheridan WYO Rodeo weekend this summer. 24-year-old Neil Switzer and 24-year-old Christopher Stotts both needed to be hospitalized for injuries sustained in the altercation.

Takes Horse is accused of firing a gun at Stotts and then beating him with a deadly weapon. Court documents allege Switzer and Stotts incited the incident but Pinnick and Takes Horse exceeded the level of response necessary to assure self defense.

Takes Horse will be released on bond after District Court Judge John Fenn modified the $25,000 bond to allow 10 percent of the bond to be posted in cash. Takes Horse is required to enter Rimrock Substance Abuse Treatment Center in Billings and will live in Billings with his mother until his trial, scheduled for February 3rd, 2010.
