The Northeast Wyoming Municipal Leaders, or NEWY, hosted a number of Congressional staff from Washington, D.C. last week, as they toured Sheridan, Johnson and Campbell Counties.

Buffalo Mayor Randy Dyess explains why the tours were organized.

The tour started in Sheridan and Buffalo, where travel and tourism were featured, then on to Gillette where energy development was featured. The Congressional staff attended the dedication of the Dry Fork coal-fired power plant and toured area coal mines to observe the reclamation processes there.

Dyess said the staffers were surprised at how well the three industries worked here, and how responsibly energy development is being handled here.

Dyess explains what the hope of the NEWY organization is by having the staffers tour the area.
