Newcastle Man Enters Plea In Sexual Assault Case

A Newcastle man was arraigned on sexual assault charges in 4th Judicial District Court in Sheridan. 52-year-old Richard Hill is accused of sexual abuse of a minor in the 2nd degree. Hill allegedly had sexual contact with a child between the ages of 13 and 15, according to the court records.

Hill entered a not-guilty plea in front of Judge John Fenn. If convicted Hill could receive 20 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. His trial is scheduled for next January.

The defense asked for Hill’s bail to be reduced and prosecutors argued that he is a flight risk since he doesn’t live in Sheridan. Fenn considered the defendant’s history of felony arrests before leaving the bond unchanged at $100,000 cash.

No Bail for Child Molesters!

I am happy to see the judge did not reduce this guys bail. I know he is innocent until proven guilty; but there are crimes that are bad enough that bail should either be denied or set so high that it is difficult to make. Child molestation and rape are two such offenses! Personally, I do not think anyone convicted of hurting a woman or child sexually should ever get out of jail! These perverts do not change and should not get a second chance to hurt anyone else!
