A new patrol officer for the Buffalo Police Department was sworn in at the last Buffalo City Council meeting.

Officer Dustin DeWald was given his Oath of Office during the meeting by Municipal Judge Mary Hupy.

DeWald was hired as a patrol officer with no prior experience, and worked a few weeks in the dispatch center, according to Police Chief Jason Carder.
Carder said DeWald will be paired with a seasoned officer for field training for the time being, and will attend the Police Academy in Douglas next year for more extensive training.
