New “Quit Smoking” Ads Take An Emotional Turn

“Quitting smoking” tends to be one of the top New Year's resolutions. And the Wyoming Department of Health is trying to give those wanting to quit an extra “push” with a new series of emotion-driven commercials, which are directed by Sheridan-born and Oscar and Emmy nominated documentary filmmaker Daniel Junge.

Part of the rationale behind these new “emotion driven” ads is to increase awareness and discussion of the potential emotional impact from tobacco use:
Wyoming Department of Health Director Dr. Brent Sherard:

According to the Department, around 20% of Wyoming residents smoke. Sherard adds that “real help is available,” and that the “medication support offered in Wyoming makes the state's program among the most generous in the nation.”

To receive cessation medication vouchers or free counseling services, Wyoming residents can call 1-800-QUIT-NOW.
