Native People are Important Part of the WYO Events

Hundreds of Native people attend and participate in the many events connected with the Sheridan WYO Rodeo, and have done so for decades.

Their performances in the First People's Pow Wow, and their dancing in full regalia in the parade are always a crowd favorite.

Truman Jefferson, who is known as “Boogie,” has been part of the annual broadcasts on Sheridan Media for years.

He said the Native people feel like Sheridan is home and they always have fun during the Sheridan WYO Rodeo.

Boogie said the Native people feel welcome in Sheridan and have always enjoyed being a part of the Wyo Rodeo events.

He said the people of Sheridan “give a very warm welcome, and it's great that we can be people, be neighbors and just have fun together.”
