National Weather Service Gets “Friendly”

The National Weather Service uses plenty of high-tech equipment to forecast sun, snow, or 80% chance of rain...but now they are getting tech-savvy in a new way. Sheridan Media's Betsy Love has more:

Though the National Weather Service does use plenty of high-tech instruments, they are now getting into a sort of technology most 12-year-olds are familiar with:

Matt Solum is a Meteorologist at National Weather Service in Billings. He says the first two sites chosen were in Dallas and Kansas City.

Since the page was started last week, almost 300 people have “liked” the National Weather Service in Billings. And, Matt says they will send out “all sorts of information on the page”:

However, he did not say whether they would be posting pics from the party everyone attended last weekend, and include “status updates” like “just ate cheerios for dinner. Yum.” . This reporter's guess is...well, probably best just to “like” the local weather service and find out yourself.
