Saturday, the Sheridan County Historical Society and its museum hosted its third annual Community Appreciation Day at the museum.  The event commemorated the Historical Society’s 50th anniversary, but also was a celebration of the fact that the mortgage of the 6,800 square foot museum was paid off last December.

Visitors were treated to refreshments, discounts in the Museum Mercantile, along with membership discounts.  A new exhibit will be featured this year called, “Doves, Dentists, Dogies, and Dudes," which focuses on colorful commerce of Sheridan County since 1882.

Presenting a local perspective of the history of the American West, museum curator Dana Prater says.

The museum, found just off I-90 on 5th Street, is now open daily through August from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
