A 3-acre timber fire started Sunday on the Crow Reservation's Pryor Mountains is now under control according to fire officials. BIA Crow Agency Information Officer Jon Kohn says the fire is considered to be on “patrol status,” meaning they don't expect this fire to grow or stay hot. However, this doesn't mean fire season itself is on“patrol status”:
He says a fast initial response is vital to keeping fires small, and that if individuals see what may be an uncontrolled fire, they should call 911, rather than try to deal with the fire themselves.
