Mobile Home Fire in Sheridan

At approximately 4:45 am Tuesday, Sheridan Fire-Rescue responded to a structure fire at 808 Avoca Avenue in Sheridan.

Other agencies that responded included the Sheridan Police Department, Rocky Mountain Ambulance, Goose Valley Fire Department, Montana-Dakota Utilities, and the City of Sheridan Streets Department.

According to information from Sheridan Fire-Rescue, crews, upon arrival to the scene, found a mobile home fully involved with smoke and fire. The occupant of the home was alerted to the fire by a family pet and a smoke alarm and evacuated through a window prior to fire crews arrival to the mobile home. The individual was transported by ambulance to Sheridan Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

The fire caused substantial damage to the home and all of its contents. Crews remained on scene for over three hours to assure that the fire was completely extinguished. The origin and cause of the fire remains under investigation. Sheridan Fire-Rescue emphasized the importance of having functioning and properly installed smoke detectors in their homes.
