Buffalo Mayor Shane Schrader proclaimed September 8th through the 14th as Suicide Prevention Week in Buffalo.

In a release, the mayor said, “It was an Honor and a Privilege to issue this Proclamation. The sad truth, is that we have to have a Suicide Prevention Week anywhere. Starting the Morning of Sept. 8th watch the Court House Lawn, and stop by at noon each day this week. There will some great folks there to explain what is happening. One thing that I know for sure about Buffalo is that we as a community, through all of our differences, will come to each others' sides in moments of need. Suicide Prevention is a need not just for our community but communities everywhere.”

Father Doug Wasinger, with the Johnson County Suicide Prevention Coalition, spoke after the proclamation was read by Mayor Schrader.
