Maxfield Checks on Sheridan SLIB Projects

Maxfield Checks on Sheridan SLIB Projects

Wyoming Secretary of State, Max Maxfield, made a stop in Sheridan today to visit with county officials regarding local State Loan and Investment Board (SLIB) projects. The Secretary heard about the county's ongoing struggle to run a balanced budget and how the county relies on state funds, especially for capital projects. Maxfield was surprised to learn about the tough decisions made by the county government to make ends meet, which included laying off three employees and not refilling at least eight other positions after employees retired or quit for unrelated reasons.

Maxfield then went on a short tour of ongoing or recently completed SLIB project sites, including developments in the court house and Sheriff's Office.

For every SLIB dollar contributed to projects in Sheridan County, the county puts up about $1.90. Maxfield acknowledged the county has been fiscally responsible when considering SLIB projects and is in a better position than other counties in the state.
