Man Pleads Not-Guilty To Charges Of Child Abuse

A Sheridan man appeared in 4th Judicial District Court to be arraigned on charges of aggravated assault and battery, and child abuse. The charges against 35-year-old Rockie King stemmed from an incident last month when King’s 13-month-old daughter was injured.

King is accused of causing the injuries that included marks on the girl’s neck that are consistent with manual strangulation. Other injuries treated at the hospital were cuts around the mouth and bruises on the face and head.

According to law enforcement during testimony at the preliminary hearing, King allegedly claimed the injuries had resulted from a wrestling match that got out of hand.

King faces up to ten years in prison, if convicted. Defense motions to lower bail were denied and King remains in the Sheridan County Detention Center on a $15,000 cash only bond. King’s trial has been scheduled for May 12th – 13th, 2010.
