Madden Elaborates on Proposed Drug Test For Unemployment

State legislator, Mike Madden, appeared on Public Pulse on KROE 930 AM with Kim Love on Wednesday and provided more information on legislation that will be introduced in future sessions in Cheyenne.

When asked about his recent statements involving his support for required drug testing for unemployment benefits, Madden elaborated that while the efficacy of a program like that can not be known beforehand, he suspects it could save the state money and deter drug use all together.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention acknowledges drug abuse as a disease that requires treatment, but Madden said there are other ways to facilitate treatment for those individuals.

Madden said several constituents have approached him because they feel it's unfair they must pay into a compensation fund that pays out to someone who was fired because they failed an employer's drug test.
