State Representative Mike Madden sat down recently with Sheridan Media to discuss this year's legislative session, and talked about direct distribution funds for local governments, which he said had remained about the same from the previous year.

The direct distribution funding bill was one of few non-contentious items the legislature dealt with this year, according to Madden.

Madden said his formula for the distributions that was passed a few years ago has been working well and has become a fairer way to fund local governments as opposed to the previous method.

Buffalo and Kaycee direct distribution funding did increase in 2019 over 2018, but the increase was relatively small.

Actual funding to Buffalo was just over $331,000 in 2018, and Kaycee received $39,378.

The distribution introduced and passed in the budget for FY 2019 shows Buffalo receiving just over $335,000 and Kaycee receiving a modest $228 increase to $39,606.

Madden also discussed the legislature's funding for ENDOW, or Economically Needed Diversity Options for Wyoming, and we will have more on that in an upcoming story.
