Lummis Votes Against Healthcare Reform Bill And Urges The U.S. Senate To Do The Same

U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis voted against the Health Care Reform bill during the vote on Saturday. She called the plan an "ill-conceived, trillion-dollar debacle."

She had offered several amendments to the bill that would have protected citizens from being forced to purchase government-approved insurance, and states from having to fulfill unfunded mandates from the Federal government.

Lummis says the bill as passed will shackle the freedoms of the American people while empowering the Federal government.

The bill passed the House on a 220 – 215 vote; however, several U.S. senators, including some moderate Democrats, are not in favor of the bill and don’t feel the matter will ever reach the Senate floor.
