Lummis Supports Pay Cut For Congress

U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis is co-sponsoring legislation that would cut salaries for senators and representatives in Congress. Lummis explains why she's behind the proposed legislation.

The bill is sponsored by Representative Ann Kirkpatrick, a Democrat from Arizona. If passed, the legislation would enact a 5% pay cut to all members of Congress starting January 1st 2011.

The bill would also block any automatic congressional pay increase for 2012. Lummis has previously co-sponsored bills to stop the automatic congressional pay increase for 2011 and to eliminate the automatic raise altogether, and was part of the successful effort to block the pay hike for 2010.

What is worse is that if you follow these people after congress they end up with very good jobs working for companies that they helped when in office. It goes a long way towards understanding why someone spends $100 million to get a $100k a year job...Personally I think they should retire at full salary, but never again be allowed to work for any cooperation.

Stop the GOLDEN Parachute too!

This sounds good to me too, but why don't you stop the GOLDEN PARACHUTE program for you and all the members of congress? Why should you be allowed to collect your current salary after you fail to get re-elected or quit? Why don't you take the same health care that the people who elected you have to use? This is why you are all crooks! Pay taxes on election day!

Sounds good to me.

Sounds good to me.

In the past I have been cery

In the past I have been cery critical of our our Congresswoman, in light of this I'll have a more open mind towards her in the future. Way to go!
