Lots of Flu Vaccines Expected this Year

Flu season is still a few weeks away, but Associated Press reports say that plenty of flu vaccine is expected to be available across the country this year. A recent AP report said that 166 million vaccines are expected compared to the 157 million supplied last year. Public Information Officer for the Wyoming Department of Health, Kim Deti, says that this should be the case in Wyoming.

Deti added that it is still early for exact numbers to be calculated for how much vaccine will be sent to Wyoming. Deti said that some locations do get supplies early - Albertsons in Sheridan is already offering flu vaccines - but full distribution won't happen until September. Flu season usually spans October through May.

Deti said this year's strain is supposed to be the same as last year, and according to CDC.gov that will include the 2009 H1N1 strain. The Center for Disease Control estimates that 41 percent of adults were vaccinated last year.
